MY PERSONAL REVIEW
AND EXPERIENCE WITH THE ICE BEAR 300cc TRIKE
I bought this on my birthday on
Aug 4th, 2012. I bought it from someone who had it a short
time. Due to his declining health he was selling his bikes.
It only had 190 miles on it. So I would consider this
practically BRAND NEW.
Originally it was all grey, but
due to it arriving in the crate with scratches on the body, the
original owner had the back cover painted red. That is why you
won't see this type of color combo.
Below are the
list of problems I have had and continue to have...
On the first day, I ran out of
gas on the interstate...why?....because the gas gauge showed I had
almost 3/4 of a tank left....it doesn't work!
Soon after that, a gasket went
bad in the middle of the motor, cost me over $450 to have that
fixed. He had to take the body off, take the motor apart to
get to the gasket. It did not just leak oil, it
poured/streamed out. I was using a quart of oil...A DAY!
The back tires did not even last
1000 miles. It's time for new back tires again... the new ones
I bought lasted about 2500 miles.
Low beam light went out less
than 500 miles.
Vibration on the bike is
terrible...all the plastic shakes and is noisy.
3 of the metal brackets that
hold the covers on have cracked/broken due to the excessive
Windshield screws/rubber inserts
are terrible, never tight. I keep it covered all the time, but
still the windshield looks terrible, looks like tiny cracks all over
Will not go into reverse anymore.
Also the plastic over the entire
bike is so cheap and brittle, I have cracks everywhere. The
right side compartment cover on the right side, cracked down the
middle and just fell off.
My ignition key component is
loose...just hanging there by wires.
Brake reservoir windows are
cracked and leak fluid.
I was leaving one day and felt a
bump....I looked behind me and the radiator fan was laying in the
middle of the road/wires stripped out....just fell off. I
checked into getting the fan replaced....they don't just sell the
fan...you have to buy the radiator also!!!
I got back one day and looked
down and the muffler guard was gone...it fell off while riding.
The muffler is always loose, it
will not tighten. I have to clamp it to the frame to
keep it tight otherwise it backfires all the time.
Could not get it started....I
just had to replace the carburetor, another $200.
Even after having the carb
replaced, it was sputtering terribly, Stator wire went bad and had
to replace that.
They state you get 75 mpg....you
might get 55-60 at best. It will run about 65 mph
Water cooled, you have to take
the cover apart just to put water in it....terrible design!
And putting it back together again and again wears out the cover and
it will crack and break. You have to forceably pop it apart
and pop it back in.
Very cheaply made with those
slide on clip nuts for screws, which they fall off easily and
WORKING...I only TRUST it to run to town and back, which is about 5
It's constantly something going wrong. Don't plan on any long
or semi long trips!
Ok...here is the latest disaster....the back left wheel bearing is
GONE! I'm driving down the highway and the backend shifts,
like I hit a wet spot. A little further down the road and I
had to pull over it was so bad. I turned around and LUCKILY,
the scooter repair shop was less than a mile back down the road.
I barely made it to find out the wheel was wobbling really bad.
They took the wheel off and the little ball bearings just fell out.
If I had been going fast and this had happened....
I could have
flipped/crashed/been thrown into traffic/dead!
Less than 3500 miles and the
wheel goes bad! When will the other one go bad? No telling how much this is going to cost
me... These bikes aren't just poorly made!....
they could be DEADLY!
many comment on how cheap China products are...
well, this is a prime example!
Most of these problems have
happened within the first year of having it. I have had this
less than 2 years, less than 3500 miles!
I have spent well over $1000 in repairs so
If I had spent over $4500 to buy this new and still had to spend all
this on repairs...@#$%!
Great Design...It looks great....and I get
compliments on it all the time...
but I will tell YOU what I tell them...
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!
BUY AMERICAN!....or if you
can't, buy JAPANESE/HONDA....
stay away from the potentially
"deadly" ICE BEAR CHINA CRAP!
say....all of the above is my personal review and experience.
I have nothing against the ICEBEAR company. Just according to
my experience they make a TERRIBLE product and now that this latest
wheel disaster...a potentially DEADLY product. Just
BEWARE...you have been WARNED!
....just my 2
cents...NOT a happy biker...

Looks like I am not the only one!
NEW 2012 MAGNUM FROM AMX MOTORSPORTS HAD IT 2HOURS IT BROKE
DOWN NOW ITS BROKE DOWN AGAIN WOULD LIKE MONEY BACK DUE TO I
THOUGHT I BOUGHT A TRIKE BEING IN GOOD SOUND BEING NEW IN
STEAD I'VE GOT SOMETHING THAT BEEN BREAKING DOWN ABOUT EVERY
2 WEEKS SINCE IVE HAD IT WITH UNDER 97 MILES ON IT THEY HAVE
HAD IT MORE THAN I HAVE SO WHO EVER READS THIS IN MY OPINION
I WOULD NOT HAVE ANYBODY BUY A ICE BEAR TRIKE OR PRODUCT FOR
IT'S NOT WORTH IT WAITING TO GET FIX AND GOING OUT WITH MY
PURCHASE OF 5000,00
I bought a Chariot 300cc trike,
called Magnum 300cc, 2010 model online in March from County Motor
Sports, distributed by Ice Bear. Came in a crate, still 149 miles &
not once went or came back home without problems.
85% of the time needed a jumper to start it. On an average of 10
miles the exhaust comes loose & I have to tighten it again in the
street. By now I have the scooter trike full of tool, I have my
battery jumper, battery charger when I go to work & I have to use
the lights later, wrenches, duct tapes...
Other than the $5000 i paid, wasted another $650 so far on the fuel
pump, stator, carb & valve adjustment, fan... You cannot ride this
scooter 20 MPH & make a curb.
The rear tires lift off the ground or roll over easy since it's got
no rear suspensions. It's like a go kart or a kid tricycle. All 3
wheels are joined in one frame without rear suspension that you
cannot lean at all when you make a turn.
All 3 wheels stays on the ground like a train on a track, a little
speed and you're gone off the street. The rear shocks are there for
the seat only.
Engine overheats, to change tires or work under, you have to take
off the rear apron & by now I got mine all cracked & scratched. To
fill the radiator, you have to take off the whole darn front panels
They claim it does 85MPH but not a
mile more than 65MPH, handlebar wobbles. There is not one screw or
bolts and nut that is not lost & replaced because of the vibrations
& cheap kind of nuts.
So far the front shocks already bottomed out (cheap). What makes it
worse are the vendors & the distributors that got approval from the
government to import this crap.
They don't even know anything about a scooter let alone this trike
coupe. Engine is not as advertised 300cc nor a GY6. It's one of them
Yamaha clone that got no parts & it's water cooled too.
Don't have a manual, don't come with it even though it's promised.
Tech support is a joke. They referred me to call China. Once they
received my money, they told me it's an employee or public Co.
No boss, no owner & the money is invested in stocks, nowhere to
complain. You have to take out the whole carb to adjust the air/fuel
mixture since the adjustment screw is at the bottom unusually.
What makes these junks are the agents & Companies around with big
names, website & their adds. Beware Chinese scooters & their vendors
are there to get us. These scooters are not in any way close to
Italian made or Japanese made & some of their prices is more than a
I have a
made in Japan Yamaha Majesty 250 (4D9). I freaked when I saw this
Magnum Chariot, it's a bad Chinese copy of the Yamaha. Look up the
specs on the Yamaha and you'll see it's light years ahead of any
copy from China. Yes, there are made in China Yamahas but only the
small displacement scooters or bikes are made there. If it's going
to be sold in Japan, the quality is usually very good. You get what
you pay, but let's not support some fly by night company that's
selling a product that might kill someone due to low quality and bad
design. Buy the real thing and you'll live longer and happier!
Buying and riding cheap junk gives our sport a BAD name.
bought one of these Icebear Trikes and at first like anything new I
loved it. But with less the 200 miles on it the rear decking is
cracking right where the mounting screws go through. I have lock-tite
everything and parts fall off and drivers behind me run them over.
What am I going to do when the rear deck falls off? Icebear is
selling a defective product and knows there is problems and I don't
know how they get away with that. They are unsafe with bad tires
that have no warranty mine where not even balanced. The people at
Icebear won't even talk to you and the guy who answers the phone
Kristian will hang up on you. Don't waste your money you will get
sued by a driver that hits your falling body parts or even get
someone killed. Spend the extra money and buy a good bike. Elizabeth
at the factory thinks she is above everybody and will not put you
through to the parts dept. This is a piece of shit unsafe and
defective product that you will be unhappy with sooner or later.
With 200 miles on it I am scared to drive it. Anybody want to buy
I have owned an Ice Bear 300R Trike
for almost three months. It has been operational for only one week
of that time with numerous breakdowns and is in the shop now for a
blown rear axle and gear box. I am told it will take five weeks to
get the parts this time. I wanted to return the trike and get my
money back because of all the breakdowns and it also qualifies for
the Lemon Law, but was told "NO" refund. My advice is stay away from
Ice Bear products; they do not care about their customers.
The trike was setup at a certified
Wild Fire scooter dealership. The trike is used back and forth to
work on paved roads and still breaks down. Leaking gear
housing, No reverse, bad rear right axel, broken faring bracket
because of the vibration, I could keep going but I think you get the
Oh yeah.....need parts for it?
See what this parts store has to say...
Icebear Trike Parts!
These hard to find parts are not
hard to find just hard to get:
We no longer carry icebear
parts due to the poor
performance of management in
the parts department at icebear manufacuture
warehouse in california. When
their parts department gets better
management we will supply them again.
